Is the Netgear extender login not happening using the IP address? Are you inserting the IP correctly without any typos in it? Have you tried using the login URL mywifiext.net? Well, if you can’t log in then reading this post will help you remove the obstacle and do the login. Go on reading.
Netgear Extender IP Login Not Working: Fixed
Try to Log In Using the Web URL
If you can’t log in to your Netgear extender using the default IP address which is 192.168.1.250, then you also have the option of using the web URL which is mywifiext.net. We recommend typing the URL this time instead of the IP and then log in to the extender.
There can be two scenarios. One is that even the URL won’t help you log in to the extender. The second one is that the URL is working but IP is not working. Let’s discuss both scenarios ahead.
Case 1: URL is Working but IP is Not
This could have happened due to two issues. Either you are entering the IP incorrectly or the IP is changed and you are using the wrong IP to log in. We suggest you to carefully type the IP address in the URL field of the browser. Make zero typing mistakes.
If the IP is entered correctly but the login page is not opening up, then check the IP address that’s assigned to the extender. It might be changed to avoid IP conflict.
If two devices on the network (extender and router) have same IP address, then to avoid IP conflict the ISP assigns a new IP to one device. For example 10.0.0.1 admin IP is used by the router and 10.0.0.20 admin IP is used by the extender. This causes IP conflict. To avoid this, the IP is changed by the ISP.
You can check the IP for your extender. Connect your PC to its network first and then open Command Prompt window. Ping ipconfig. The IP listed next to default gateway is the one that’s given to your WiFi extender. Use this IP now to log in to its web interface.
Case 2: Web URL is Not Working Either
By any chance, even the URL does not help you load the login page of the Netgear WiFi extender, then try these fixes:
- Make sure that you are connected to the extender’s network while you are trying to log in to it. Join its WiFi and then try to log in.
- Maybe the WiFi connection is not working. In that case, you should give a try at the LAN connection. Use a LAN cable and join the extender’s network by connecting your PC using the cable.
- If you can’t connect to your extender’s network in any way then you should check the power supply to the extender and the main router.
- Also, check the connection between the extender and router. It should be well in place so that the extender is working properly.
- Use an up to date internet browser to log in to your extender.
- Clear the cache and cookies from the internet browser before logging in.
- Avoid using the search bar of the browser to type the IP or web URL. Make use of the address field only. This is also referred to as the URL field or the URL bar.
- Try using different browsers for the login process.
- Temporarily disable any VPN is you are using it on your PC.
- Use an alternative device to log in to the Netgear extender.
- Get the operating system of your PC updated and then see if the issue is resolved.
Wrapping Things Up
After you have given a shot at the fixes given above, you should be able to log in to your Netgear wireless range extender. By chance you can’t log in even now, then perform a power cycle by powering off all the devices i.e. the extender, router and the PC. Give them some rest and then power them on once again. Now connect your PC to the extender’s network and then log in to it using the IP address or the web URL.
